Luke 6:43-45

Verse: “A good tree can’t produce bad fruit, and a bad tree can’t produce good fruit. A tree is identified by its fruit. Figs are never gathered from thornbushes, and grapes are not picked from bramble bushes. A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart. What you say flows from what is in your heart.”

Insight: Our identity as followers of Christ is declared to those around us when our words and actions bring glory to God. If we fail to cultivate a close and personal relationship with God through daily prayer and reading of the Bible, we are choosing to live in and proclaim darkness instead. Neutrality is not possible within our hearts.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for giving us direct access to you through prayer and reading of the Bible. Help our words and actions to always bring glory to you, shining your light into the darkness of the world around us. In your mighty name, Amen.
