1 John 4:20-21

Verse: If someone says, “I love God,” but hates a fellow believer, that person is a liar; for if we don’t love people we can see, how can we love God, whom we cannot see? And he has given us this command: Those who love God must also love their fellow believers.

Insight: C. S. Lewis said, “When we Christians behave badly, or fail to behave well, we are making Christianity unbelievable to the outside world.” The verse today explains that our failure to love and treat each other well within the church can make Christianity unbelievable to a skeptical world that is waiting to catch a glimpse of Jesus Christ or proclaim that he does not exist. We must present Jesus as the only truth through our love and treatment of one another.

Prayer: Lord, let us show the world Jesus by the loving way we care for other Christians. May our relationships of love and respect be a light of truth into this skeptical world. Thank you for your grace and blessings of renewal each day. In your name, Amen.
