Proverbs 28:27

Whoever gives to the poor will lack nothing,

but those who close their eyes to poverty will be cursed.

Insight: We are called to live arrows out and care for the less fortunate in our communities. This scripture explains God’s promise that when we live generous lives, we will experience his blessings. In contrast, if we choose to care only for ourselves and turn to selfishness and greed, then the scripture promises we will be cursed, or in other words, fall outside of God’s abundant blessings.

Prayer: Lord, give us open eyes and hearts as we seek to live arrows out and care for those in our communities that are suffering in poverty. We live in a consumeristic, self-driven world, and we ask that you guard our hearts as we navigate ever closer to you.  We thank you for your grace and ask that you continue to guide us in our exchange of selfishness for selflessness. In Jesus name, Amen.
