Verse: “Don’t tear your clothes in your grief, but tear your hearts instead. Return to the Lord your God, for He is merciful and compassionate, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. He is eager to relent and not punish.”
Insight: I distinctly remember lying to my parents growing up. It ate me from the inside out until I confessed. My parents responded with discipline, but also with love and grace because I admitted my wrong. The act of repentance allowed me to live guilt free. Some of us have been carrying our wrongs for far too long. Today is the day to confess to God and those that we have wronged. What we will find is a God that is full of compassion, ready to respond with love and mercy!
Prayer: Jesus, I thank you that we do not have to hide when we make mistakes or when we sin against you. As a loving father, you want us to come to you with our good and our bad. Today, I confess the areas in my life that I have fallen short and ask for your forgiveness. Thank you that you always respond with kindness and mercy, even when we do not deserve it. I love you lord, Amen.
