David retorted to Michal, “I was dancing before the Lord, who chose me above your father and all his family! He appointed me as the leader of Israel, the people of the Lord, so I celebrate before the Lord. Yes, and I am willing to look even more foolish than this, even to be humiliated in my own eyes!”
David loved God so much that he was willing to look ridiculous while expressing his gratitude to God! Very few of us would probably like to dance in front of large groups of people, but can you imagine the freedom David lived in to not care what people thought about him? He had a heart to please God and not man.
God we need you. Give us the courage to live for you boldly. We want to please you with our lives. Show us where we have been aiming to please people instead of you, and give us the strength and the wisdom to break free from people-pleasing.
