And he answered, “If you had a sheep that fell into a well on the Sabbath, wouldn’t you work to pull it out? Of course you would. And how much more valuable is a person than a sheep! Yes, the law permits a person to do good on the Sabbath.”
The Pharisees placed their laws above human need. They were so concerned about Jesus breaking one of their rules that they did not care about the man who Jesus had just healed. So, how do you feel about helping others, or in particular certain people? We want to make sure our convictions are in alignment with God’s Word. We must not allow rule keeping to blind us to human need. On the Sabbath, and every day for that matter, is a good day for doing good. Who is Jesus nudging you to help today?
Jesus, we ask you to help us align our convictions with your Word. Help us be aware and available to do good for others as you direct us. May we today be your instrument to bring hope to others and connect them with you. Amen.
