Deliver me from my enemies my God; protect me from those who rise up against me.
Insight: In this chapter we see the author asking for protection and also asking God to bring down their enemies. Do you ever think that you must clean up your language and calm down your anger before you can talk to God? In Psalm 59 we are reminded that we can bring ourselves wholly as we are to God. Today, if you find yourself angry or irritated instead of asking God to take away that feeling, try expressing it to him exactly how you want to. When you are done, sit for a moment and try asking God to reveal his insight into what you are experiencing.
Prayer: God, it is so easy to label my feelings as good or bad and to then try to hide the ‘bad’ ones from you. Today, help me to be honest with you. Today help to feel your grace and love hold me tightly. Today let me experience your presence in the midst of my joy and my anger.
