Luke 9:12-13

Verse(s): Now the day began to wear away, and the twelve came and said to him, “Send the crowd away to go into the surrounding villages and countryside to find lodging and get provisions, for we are here in a desolate place.” But he said to them, “You give them something to eat.”

Insight: At first, Jesus’ request did not make any sense. They all knew that it was impossible to feed five thousand men plus their families without enough food. Jesus had already revealed to them His power through miracles and wonders. As His disciples, I believe that He wanted them to put their faith and authority to work. Before Jesus departed He stated that we would do greater things. God’s desire is for our faith to continuously grow as we depend more and more on Him and His Word.

Prayer: Lord, please increase my faith so that your kingdom will be known through my life to those in need of you. Give me the strength to step in faith every time you ask me to serve others even if my eyes cannot believe that it is possible. Thank you for trusting in me to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world. In Jesus Name, Amen.
