Psalm 51:1-12

Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions. Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin.

Insight: King David had sinned big-time (not that any sin is little in God’s eyes). He’d blown it and he knew it. But his response when confronted spoke to both his understanding of God and his heart of repentance. As a result, He would be referred to as a “man after God’s own heart.” Remember, God’s grace is greater than your disgrace.

Prayer: God, help me to respond to my sin with a repentant heart and to embrace your grace moving forward. I don’t want to minimize what sent Jesus to the cross, but also understand that His resurrection from the dead gives me life and hope. In His name, Amen.
