I Corinthians 8:1-3

"Now about food sacrificed to idols: We know that we all possess knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up.  The man who thinks he knows something does not yet know as he ought to know.  But the man who loves God is known by God."

Insight: Knowledge is wonderful, but if it isn't wrapped up in genuine love for other people, it doesn't produce anything lasting or beneficial.  Love builds up but knowledge alone only gives the illusion of something stronger.

Prayer: God, You know all things and yet You treat each one of us with such love and kindness, even though our understanding & knowledge cannot even begin to compare to Yours.  Help me to treat others the same - to be more concerned about building them up in love than about everyone seeing that I am right.  Help me to use the knowledge and insight You have helped me to gain to build others up, not puff up my own image.
