Hebrews 12:1-2

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith.

This verse is packed with truth. We can be encouraged to throw off, run away from, and get far back from anything that takes our eyes off of our Creator. Whatever that may be, seemingly big or small, we have a race to run and we cannot do that with extra weight we were never meant to carry. The verse goes on to say, for sure throw off the weight, but here is how you do it – lock eyes with Jesus. Take time today and ask God to show you what you are carrying that you shouldn’t be, and then look to him as the Father that makes all things new in our lives. He will always show up!

God thank you for speaking this truth to me today. I throw off anything that pulls my attention from you today. You pursue me in all circumstances. Help me to lead and love with endurance by looking to you. Amen.
