Job 42:8-10

My servant Job will pray for you, and I will accept his prayer on your behalf… When Job prayed for his friends, the Lord restored his fortunes.

Insight - Job’s friends had not spoken accurately about God or about Job. It is not easy to pray for those who have been unkind to us. It is difficult to forgive someone who has accused us of wrongdoing, but Job did. Job’s restoration came in an unusual way - God instructed him to pray for his friends. It was life giving for Job and it blessed his friends. When we struggle with the pain of betrayal and loss, consider God’s instructions to Job. Praying for those who have wronged us has a liberating effect.

Prayer - Jesus, thank you for grace and forgiveness. Help us to extend the same to those who have wronged us. We pray you would show them your love and mercy.
