Luke 23:33-34

“When they came to the place called the Skull, there they crucified him, along with the criminals - one on his right, the other on his left. Jesus said, ‘Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.’”

Insight: The very people who crucified Jesus had been created by Him, designed by Him, and loved by Him. And they, along with most of the people there that day, had no idea what they were doing. They were blind & deaf to the fact they were beating & killing the One who both gave them life and sustained their lives. But Jesus knew. And He loved them anyways, to the very end, when some of His last words were to intercede on their behalf to the Father. How great & incomprehensible is the love of Jesus - to love us at our worst & through our worst.

Prayer: Jesus, thank You for Your love - it is a love that I don’t deserve, but You give it me anyways. Thank You for praying for me when I don’t even know I need it. Thank You for loving me at my worst and wanting me still. Your grace humbles me and amazes me. May I live every day in awe of it.
