Luke 11:2-4

Jesus said, “When you pray say: Father, hallowed be your name, your
kingdom come. Give us each day our daily bread. Forgive us our sins, for we also
forgive everyone who sins against us. And lead us not into temptation.”

Insight: Jesus taught his followers to pray beginning by honoring God the Father and
inviting His favor and will to be done right here on earth. He taught them to ask
for what they needed today and to forgive those who had hurt and sinned against
them. And concluded by asking that he’d shield them from temptation.

Prayer: Our heavenly Father, honored be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be
done, on earth as it is in heaven. Forgive us our debts as we forgive those who have
sinned against us. Give us what we need today. Lead us not into temptation but
deliver us from the evil one. For yours is the kingdom, and the power and the glory
forever, amen.
