Genesis 22:13-14

Abraham looked up and there in the a thicket he saw a ram caught by its horns. He went over and took the ram and sacrificed it as a burnt offering instead of his son. So Abraham called that place The Lord Will Provide. And to this day it is said, ‘On the mountain of the Lord it will be provided.’”

Insight: This account of Abraham preparing to offer his only son Isaac as a sacrifice to God is a foreshadowing of what Jesus would come to do on our behalf. Just as God provided a ram so that Isaac did not have to die that day on the mountain, He would one day provide the perfect sacrifice in His Son Jesus so we don’t have to die for our sins. I love that Abraham called that spot on the mountain “The Lord Will Provide” - all our deepest needs are provided for by the perfect sacrifice of Jesus.

Prayer: Father, thank You for Your perfect sacrifice on my behalf - that You took my place and stood in for me. Help me to remember that You are Jehovah Jireh, my Provider. Everything I need, You have and will provide for as I come to You. Amen.
