Luke 14:12-14

“Then Jesus said to his host, ‘When you give a luncheon or dinner, do not invite your friends, your brothers or sisters, your relatives, or your rich neighbors; if you do, they may invite you back and so you will be repaid. But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed. Although they cannot repay you, you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.’”

Insight: We are called to live arrows out, seeking to serve those most in need and least able to repay our kindness, both across the street and around the world. When we selflessly serve others, we become a living example of God’s love and compassion, and ultimately his promise of salvation.

Prayer: Lord, help me to make living arrows out a priority in my life. I want others to see you as I serve those around me. Thank you for your promise of salvation and for sending your son, Jesus, as the ultimate example of selfless service and sacrifice. Amen.
