Genesis 33:4

“But Esau ran to meet Jacob and embraced him; he threw his arms around his neck and kissed him. And they wept.”

Insight: In this verse, Jacob expected a harsh response upon seeing his brother Esau for the first time since he stole their father’s final blessing, but instead he was met with love and kindness. God desires reconciliation for his children today as he did for Jacob and Esau, so we must walk in forgiveness, grace, and compassion, even in conflict.

Prayer: Lord, it is difficult in times of conflict to clearly see a way forward in my relationships, but I know that you have laid out a plan for me in scripture. Help me to show grace and compassion in times of conflict and live a life of forgiveness so that I can experience the reconciliation you desire in my life. Thank you for your love and guidance. Amen.
