"What good is it, dear brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but don’t show it by your actions? Can that kind of faith save anyone? Suppose you see a brother or sister who has no food or clothing, and you say, “Good-bye and have a good day; stay warm and eat well”—but then you don’t give that person any food or clothing. What good does that do?"
Every day we have opportunities to meet the needs of people that we work with, are friends with or live near. It can be as simple as making sure a customer finds what they are looking for or noticing a neighbor that needs help with something at their house. James tells us to take concern for those who are vulnerable and/or marginalized, so we may need to practice noticing who these people are in our lives, so we can be quick to live out of faith.
Jesus, help me to have eyes to see the needs of people that are in my every-day life. Give me opportunities to make much of your name, and to show those who are in need of help, that there is a God who loves them and is looking after them. Amen
