1 Timothy 6:17

Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.

Insight: Paul urges his apprentice Timothy to command those who are wealthy to remember their identity and security are not found in what they possess. Rather, their identity and security are wrapped up in the fact that they are God’s creation and kids. Possessions are given to us by God for our enjoyment, not as the foundation for our lives.

Prayer: God, help me to remember that whatever amount of wealth I'm given in this life is fleeting and is a dangerous thing to base my life on. You are the only certainty...the only true foundation to build my life on.
