2 Kings 8:6

"Then he assigned an official to her care and said to him, 'Give back everything that belonged to her, including all the income from her land from the day she left the country until now.'"

Insight:  This account of the Shunammite woman is only six verses long but it is truly amazing.  After leaving her home for seven years because of a famine in the land, she returns with her family & approaches the king to see if they could possibly get their land back.  At the exact moment she came in, the king was being told by Elisha's servant how Elisha had befriended this family and had brought their son back to life.  Talk about divine timing!!  And then all that had been lost during the season of famine was not only restored, but the income their land had produced during those seven years was given back as well.   Above and beyond what I am sure they dared to hope for.  That is how our God works.  When we go through a season of famine or loss in our lives, it can feel that so much has been taken from us we that things will never be the same again. or never be as a good as they were before.  But we serve a God who can restore above and beyond our wildest hopes!

Prayer: Father, sometimes things do not go as we have planned and we experience loss in ways that we never expected.  But You are the great Restorer.  Help me to trust You with my areas of loss - not only to bring me through but to one day restore and make right all things.  You are my loving Father and I am always in Your hands.  Amen.
