Galatians 5:16, 22-23

So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

Insight: Our natural tendencies tend to be selfish and ultimately destructive to self and others.  But as we invite God's Spirit to walk with us and lead us each moment of the day, he rubs off on us.  His characteristics (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control) becomes our characteristics.  Our focus should never be on trying to become a better person out of our own inner strength or will.  Our focus should be on walking and talking with God each moment of the day through prayer as he shapes our desires, thoughts, and actions.  This is people becoming the church.

Prayer: Holy Spirit, I choose to walk with you today.  To a certain extent, I can change my behavior, but I cannot change my heart.  That's something only you can do.  Please change me from the inside out so your characteristics naturally become mine.
