Acts 21:14

“When it was clear that we couldn’t persuade him, we gave up and said, “The Lord’s will be done.”’

Insight At this point, Paul is about to be bound in chains for the sake of Jesus. His closest friends try to stop this because they do not want to see harm come to someone that they love. But after time together, they realized that this plan was bigger and greater than they could see. This is where they state something profound: “The Lord’s will be done”

Paul’s sacrifice turned the tide in the christian movement. Much of the faith we have today is tied to the way that Jesus used Paul in that time. His friends couldn’t see this but understood God did. Whatever you are currently experience, it might be hard to see how Jesus is in it. But what story could Jesus be writing? He can be trusted and he isn’t done writing yet. Let us be marked by these simple words: “The Lord’s will be done”

Prayer Jesus, we so often can’t see the big picture. We see what is in front of us and it is important. In the midst of whatever we are currently experiencing, help us to keep our eyes up. At the end of every day, if it is your plan it is a better one. Your plan is always good and you can always be trusted. In my life today, let your will be done Jesus. Amen
